Marlin 39 A
I have an older Marlin Model 39 A, but have no idea how old it is altho it appears to be very old. Under the lever action the serial no. is m14566, the m is small, the 1 is larger than the other 4 numbers. 4566 are all the same size and the smallest of all. There are 3 different sizes in the serial no. It also has swivels for a strap and they look to be factory mounted. It has a Weaver scope which is about 5/8" in diameter. I don't know if the scope came with the gun or was added later. If added later, would they have to drill and tap the receiver? Gun is in excellent condition. I am looking for any information anyone has about this gun, especially about when it was made. Thanks. ps forgot to say on the top of the barrel it says The Marlin Firearms Co. est 1870 New Haven, CT USA Model 39A cal-22 sl & lr micro-groove.

I have an old Marlin 39 A. I'm guessing 1947 to 1956. C17151. It still works great. It hasn't sat idle all this time so it shows some wear. Probably 70%. Any idea what it might be worth? 0 -

I still have one Factory NIB, Oct.24"bbl. but isnt cheap. What kind of barrel, length etc. is a large factor determining price.
