What version is Winchester 1890 ser 301795, 2nd or 3rd?

Wish to find a source of information explaining the mechanical functions of parts, in detail, during the operation of this rifle. Will greatly appreciate knowing of available reference. Thanks for your help - please address to jclane40@yahoo.com

It's an OLD gun and worn out! Should cycle at any attitude. Take it to a gunsmith.

It should function in any attitude as win 62 says. Around the chamber gets hit with the ejector but generally is not a major problem. I suspect the chamber is severely worn and the brass is swelling when you shoot it. Check a fired shell for swelling. You probably should have this looked at by a good smith. They can repair, reline or rebuild anything on these fine old rifles. However it probably would only last you another 80 or 90 more years. [^]

#1 is probably the firing pin spring/bolt lock, the 90 is like the 62, it will not shuck unless the firing pin is pushed all the way forward by the hammer,

#2 is either damage from firing older black powder corrosive ammo and not cleaning or a broken extractor at some point in the guns history, the mangling comes from all types of sharp objects being used to pry out a fired round
