Bushmaster VS. Rock River
Is Rock River a pretty good ar. Or should I go all out for the Bushmaster. Also if you could tell me where a good place to order the upper and lower seperate and the cheapest.Thanks

If you are just looking at a pretty good shooter I wuld go with the Bushmaster. I know they build to mil specs first time every time. If you would like to go one step up I would recomend the Armalite family. My 2 cents

Bushmaster, definitely. Bushmaster also offers uppers and lowers for reasonable prices as well. 0 -

I've owned both and find the Rock River which I purchased in September to everything the Bushmaster is and better. Only thing it lacks is the chrome lined barrel but since I don't plan on doing any jungle fighting anytime soon, I really don't think this is an issue.
The barrel it comes with is a Natl Match Wilson Chome moly barrel which I hear is different that chrome lined. If this is an issue I'd say get the stainless barrel.
Recently, I seen 4 new Bushmaster rifles come in (I work part time a a gun shop) with loose rear sight assemblies. The whole rear A2 sight assembly actually moves left & right on its base of both the detachable handle and the fixed handle uppers. My Rock River doesn't do that.
My Rock River which I ordered from the factory took 5 weeks to get to me. Seems Rock River actually made mine for me. They don't have piles of them lying around like Bushmaster.
As far as buying one I say go to your local dealer and have him order you one. The Rock River advertisements you see around with really high prices are showing you retail prices. The real prices are much lower that that. You could actually but a complete upper & complete lower separately for a total of $550 dealer cost before tax.
Expect to pay your dealer a $100 or so over this, he needs the profit to keep the lights on.

Gap1926, I used to think that (about Armalite) too, until I spoke with a LEO at the range last week. He spoke of some department AR's that had to be sent back several times for repair or replacement (one in particular they said they NEVER WANTED TO SEE AGAIN) because of serious malfunctions.
He related being told by Armalite that the "typical" law-enforcement firefight usually doesn't last longer than 50 or 75 rounds or so & that their products are "designed" to last that long....
The Armalite we have now isn't the original Armalite company, either.
Things change over time, I guess.0 -
spclark: I am not sure which of the Armalites that you LEO's department ordered. The one I use is top notch. It is semi auto not full. I have put about 1000 rounds through it and it is a tack driver for the distance I shoot it at. I have also had a Bushmaster and can not say anything bad about it. Thank you for you comments.

Just go with the bushmaster Hbar, you wont be disappointed.
Whether the 20 inch...my preference, or the 16 in Hbar. It is a heavy barrel chrome lined, militry and Police grade.0
