Well, you can get some nice reproduction 1911 diamond pattern grips from Sarco: http://www.sarcoinc.com/1911grip.html

If you really want originals, they come up sometimes on eBay: http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/search.dll?GetResult&query=Colt+1911+Grips&srchdesc=y&from=R10&ht=1&currdisp=2&itemtimedisp=1&combine=y&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&st=2&StoreCache=10147993+27140170

I checked and there are some original GI A1 (plastic) grips on there, but no 11's right now.....but bookmark the site and keep checking back, some are bound to come up. They tend to be pricey, but you may find a bargain if look long enough.

The Sarco grips look exactly like the originals on my Colt M1911....except they look new. I suppose that you could "age" them...that's fine if you want an old looking pair for your gun, but if you plan on selling an M1911 with these grips, it would be unethical to try to pass them off as originals.

The plastic ones for the 1911A1, yeah, you can find them. But original wood grips --- forget about it. I searched for a set for years without success. I've heard of them being sold, but never actually saw one.

Unless you are trying to restore an otherwise complete, original 1911, the repros will have to do. Just put them in your gun cleaning supply drawer for a year or so to "age" them.

    thanks guys,
believe i will go with the reproduction ones. I did have one fellow
tell me that he would dare a colt 1911 collector to tell the difference between the original and a reproduction.
