Saiga/AK74 switch barrel?

I own a Saiga in 7.62X39. I have wanted a rifle in 5.45X39 for a while but cannot purchase one since I live in california. It appears the barrel trunions on both the saiga and an AK74 are secured to the reciever with 6 rivets. Would it be possible to drill out these rivets and tap trunion on both the saiga and a barrel/trunion from an AK74 kit which would allow either to be used in the saiga reciever?
