Cetme or L1A1
Which is a more dependable and more accurate weapon? Which one would you buy, and why? Can either weapon be made to be more accurate?

I wonder which would be better for my situation. I need it to hit a coyote at 200-300 yards. Weight is not an issue as both are in the same range. It needs to put up with some abuse ie. dust, moisture etc. I like the L1A1 for it's longer barrel and the synthetic stock, and the Cetme for it's price. Is the L1 bad about muzzle blast like the Cetme, or kick like the G3. These 2 are both made by century arms.

i got one of each and it is pretty much a toss up..if you get a cetme with good sights then they are even in my opinion, but if i was in a firefight i think i'd rather have the L1A1,if you get a cetme try to stay away from the hesse rec unless you get an early one..special weapons and FMP are about the best in rec 0 -
I had a Cetme and dd not like it. It was tough on the cheeks, bolt do not hold open on last round, etc... When you say L1A1, I am assuming you mean a FAL in general. L1A1 is an inch version. Metric is the norm and better IMHO. Any FAL to me is better than a Cetme.
Parts are generally cheaper and with the adjstable gas system, you can fine tune it depending on ammo. To me, when adjusted properly, it has just a little more recoil than a .223 round.
So, between the two, I'd go with the L1A1. Between the inch or metric FAL, I would go with the metric. Parts, mags, etc. are cheaper and easier to find than metric. GD0 -

As far as dependability and accuracy, I think it's toss up. Both are battle rifles. I had ~2" moa on the Cetme (19" bbl?)and is getting about 1-1/2"moa on my FAL 16"bbl carbine. While I had the Cetme,it functioned perfectly for a couple hundred rounds. My FAL's been flawless for over 1000 rounds so far. Bet you could not tell I am a FALaholic? GD 0 -
The Biggerhammer has both and if you like a lot of loud noise get the CETME if you like a smoth shooting weapon get the fal I have a L1A1 and a L2A1 which is a bit heavyer and the sights on the fal are ajustable and on the C they rotate you have a chioce of 3 piep and one nuch sight the fal wght is more than the C but all and all the fal's are better bilt in Hammer's opion the parts are a lot easyer to get on the fal. and if you still are wanting a Cetme I have one only fired once. e mail leathermanjp@bignet.net and we will talk. Thanks for the info fellas. I've been tossing this around for awhile and couldn't make up my mind. The only thing I was sure of was getting a .308. I like the FAL, and wanted something that is fairly accurate. I didn't know the difference between inch and metric. I learned something again. Thanks for the offer on the CETME, but I think I'm gonna save for the FAL.
