iVER jOHNSON 12 GAUGE SXS
Looking for information regarding a shotgun I recently purchased. It is a Iver Johnson 12 gauge sxs. It is a Hurcules and has a Bird dog on point on the side of the case. I need info on the date of manufacture and the period they were produced. Gun says Iver Johnson cycle works. if any one can point me to a starting point or needs more detailed info off the gun let me know. Thanks for your help.

Iver Johnson Hercules shotguns were made from 1918 to 1943.The hercules name was dropped in 1936.From 36 to 43 they were called Iver Johnson Hammerless. 0 -
The Iver Johnson Hercules grade doubles were made between 1918 and 1936. The frames were case colored. There is considerable collector interest in these shotguns. The most sought after are the smaller gauges (28&410), but single selective triggers and auto ejectors will command a premium. 0 -
Hey Bighead, What kind of condition is it in? Does it have auto ejectors? The Hercules was made from 1918-1943. If it was engraved at the factory that will add a nice lump of change to the value.[:p] Blue Book list them for $795-100% $525-98% $450-95%. Original condition is No. 1. First, original blue on barrels-strong percent-original case colors=strong on receiver-tight lock up? Any pitting, in and out? Barrel length and chokes. Original wood-deduct for a pad. Normal Questions if a s x s individual. Shoot me some photos thru my profile-I will give you plus/minus 5 Percent.
Blue Book is a guide only and BC is completely incorrect-usual trend for him. 1010 -
This gun indeed has auto ejectors. Has factory engraving. No pitting. Bores are super. Barrels still have some blue but its getting thin. Case shows age but still no rust or pitting. Relitively free from scratches. Only flaw is a small crack in the forearm but it was repaired nicely. No recoil pad. Still has the butt plate with the owl head on it and the cap on the pistol grip is original Iver Johnson inscribed. 0 -

the bird dog etched on the frame of the hercules grade double barrel shotguns is on all of them and is not considered factory engraving. 0
