ammo thru the internet??

I was thinking of buying ammo in bigger quantity(500pcs.). Anybody have a good website or one to avoid?. Any help will be appreciated. I don't have the space yet for my own reloader. Thanks

    There are a lot of web sites selling ammunition. Cheaper Than Dirt is one, and there are many others, also. However, depending on the caliber, type, quantity, you might want to remember one thing. Freight costs generally make it very close in price to a good local source......sometimes, even more.

    If you don't have a good local source, or you live a ways away from a a good source, you might save some by buying quantities of 1,000 or more, especially in the military surplus stuff, over the internet.

    I have a local gun store that sells most of what I need at prices close to the internet prices but after you add freight, the local source is a tad cheaper. Also, being able to drive over there in 10 minutes and pick up what I want makes it a lot more convenient.

    As a rule of thumb, unless it is *very* cheap, or fairly exotic, you will usually do better with a local source. JMHO, but often the best place to get a really good deal on bulk ammo is a gun show. Often sellers will buy a truckload (literally) and sell it at shows at a real good price.

    Can't agree with these two gentlemen.
    Buying .32 ACP locally, best price with tax works out $9.00 a box.
    Buying over the net, best price per box was $6.55 including shipping.Quanity WOULD have to be at least 500 (10 Boxes) to get that price.
    The above ammo, was top quality RWS, brand new, right off the boat from the fatherland.

    Local schmocal! I'm in the sticks, If it isn't 30 30 or 06 they look at you funny. JGsales.com is a good one, they have weekly specials too. Their shipping is usually about $10 a case

    Try Eric the Ammoman at ammoman.com. The posted price includes shipping, and he'll have it to you quick. Also try Natchez and Keisler's. I don't have the url addresses, but just run a search and you'll get right there. As a rule, internet ammo purchases can save you beaucoup bucks, if you shop around.

    Around my area, most of the time internet beats gunshow and gunshow beats gunstore pricing.

    Im a local shomkal dealer and here's what I do for you internet buyers of the bulk ammo. You buy 1000 rounds of Wolf ammo then your gun decides to jam up every other shell and then you bring it to me and I trade you for the ammo your gun likes. I agree some online places prices are tough to beat but please remember what happens when you have a problem with it ? Price is nice but NOT everything. Pay a little more and keep your local guy there, the way its going he may your only choice after awhile.

    Check the auctions here on GunBroker.

    The seller "DayTrader" has some great prices on Wolf ammo--got two cases of the copper-jacketed 7.62x39 from him last year...

    ...but haven't had enough time to shoot much of it. [:(]

    I've done well to get Sellior and Bellot from CTD. I got some of both 7.62x25 and 9x18, so, yeah, kinda unusual stuff. But Sportsman's Guide has been a good source for me for more standard calibers, 9mm and .40. I live less than 15 miles away, so I just drive down and pick up the order myself, so no shipping.

    MFI makes a good point. It's always best to support the local guy. If you do accept exchanges on ammunition then you are the exception rather than the rule. Just about every other place I go to always has a sign that says 'All ammunition sales are final' or 'No returns on ammunition'. The other thing I've noticed is that very few local stores will stock military surplus or enough quantity of it. For that you have to go to the true 'gun store' and not the 'sporting goods' places.
