COLT COWBOY SA REVOLVER .45 COLT INFO???
my father has always wanted to own a COLT SAA, or PEACEMAKER, but the cost of these guns is to high. we have a COLT COWBOY SA revolver in .45 LONG COLT at the shop. its one of the run COLT started in late 1999. it has a 5 1/2 inch BBL, is blued with a case hardened reciever. it is brand new, and retains its box, acssesories, and paperwork. it comes with a box of 250 gr lead flat nose .45 COLT winchester cowboy action loads.
he intends to buy it, and i would like to know what you think.
what is it worth?, how many have they made?, is it a good shooter?, is it a quality gun?, what do you think about the .45 COLT round? any info would be helpful. best regards, mike.

Mike..... The Colt Cowboy is a less expensive version of the SAA (Single action army) The cowboy has a transfer bar system where the firing pin is in the frame instead of on the hammer like the SAA.
New in the box they are about $600.00, about half the cost of the SAA.
It is a good shooter, and I dont know how many have been made so far.
It was introduced in 1998 as a less expensive gun for Cowboy shooting, which has been the fastest growing shooting sport.
The .45 colt cartridge is a definite man stopper, even more so when shot out of a rifle with the increased velocity.
The cowboys of the old west liked to carry a pistol and rifle in the same caliber so they had to carry only one type of ammo.
I think your dad will have no regrets when he buys it.0
