AR15 uppers and lowers

If I bought a complete lower and complete upper, will I have a complete gun? What parts need a transfer through FFL? Any info will be appreciated.

  One complete upper (with bolt and charging handle) plus one complete lower, equals one AR type rifle. Only the lower receiver is a controled part and must be purchased through an FFL. Keep in mind that you cannot put an upper with any preban features (bayonet lug, flash hidder, ect.) on a post ban lower. You are also not allowed to add a retractable stock to a post ban lower. Either of these actions would be creating a new assualt rifle and a violation of the 1994 Crime Bill.

  Since you are new to AR-type weapons, let me make a suggestion. While you can assemble your own AR, I'd recommend against it. You have no warranty that it will work properly, the finish of the major parts probably won't match, and it will be more difficult to sell when you decide to get rid of it. Besides, you won't save that much money.
  
  I suggest that you buy a good quality complete rifle, new from the manufacturer. You will never regret buying the best quality that you can afford.
