GIBBS 308 ???? What is it?

Can anyone tell me about this gun, I personally have never heard of one. It is a sharp looking gun and seems to be pretty smooth.
Does it carry any value? It's in great shape. The person who has it doesn't know anything about and is asking 250.00 for it.
As always, any replies are greatly appreciated.

It's nothing more than the British Enfield made into a 308 Winchester instead of 303 British.

I believe years ago Gibbs also re-barreled a bunch of Mausers into 7.62/.308 and designed a 3 round detachable mag that simply replaced the floor plate.
Numrich Gun Parts now has the Mauser detachable mags in both long and short actions for $24.95 + s&h.

I have a Gibbs Extream II. I will have to disagree with aglore. It is more than just an Enfield made into a .308. It is a new .308 barrel not a 303 bored out to .308. The bolt is new mfg not a re-mfg. The nickle coating makes it very good for any place near water. The muzzel brake tames the .308 recoil on a short barrel. The only negative I have is the scope mount it comes with. It does not work. I had mine taken to a gun smith and had a real mount installed. Just my 2 cents
Sorry I forgot: I paid $265.00 for mine and another $35.00 for the scope mount.

I have one in .303, its great. The muzzle break works so well the muzzle actually goes down in recoil! Mine looks like a new gun, can't find any pits or tooling marks under the nickel(?) plating.

The "Gibbs 308" rifle you're asking about was originally a Indian Army Rifle. They were made during the 1950's at the Ishapur Ordnance Factory. Supposedly they were manufactured with a better grade of steel because the 7.62 x 51mm cartridge operated at a much higher pressure then 303 Lee-Enfields that were previously manufactured using the same tooling and patterns.
Fast forward to the 1990's, the Gibbs Rifle Company of Martinsburg, W V purchased these ex Indian Army Rifles when they were surplused.
Some of these rifles were reworked into the "QUEST II" configuration you inquired about. As far as I know these rifles haven't been rebarreled. They still have the original 7.62mm barrels from the Ishapur Arsenal.0
