Smith & Wesson 1911
I have been looking into these guns does anyone own one of the new models and can give me any info on how good they are how they shoot. Just pros and cons in general. as always info is much appreciated!

hey! Hey! HEY!!! This is the NEW Smith and Wesson! American owned and operated! The external extractor may well prove to be a design improvement. Have you ever fitted and tuned a new extractor of the old design? All I can say is MY SW1911 is on order from RSR! Eat your hearts out![:D] 0 -
A dealer here got one in this week, but would not let me handle it. It is under 500 serial no. and he hopes to sell it to someone who will probably just put it up as a collectable. Visually,I noticed a gap between back of trigger and the frame which usually indicates a poor fitting job. I would rather see a stainless grip safety and manual safety on a stainless pistol. Why would you blue the parts that are going to show the most wear. I don't have a problem with the external extractor, even John Browning corrected that when he designed the Hi-Power FN. I noticed that the Wilson double stack 45 also has an external extractor. I remember seeing the S&W 1911 style pistol that they made several years ago. It was a nice pistol, but was around $1600. 0 -
I have personally handled the new S&W 1911. Everything seemed to be nicely fit and finished. The external extractor is basically identical to the one they have used on their semi-autos for years. I compared it to one of their .40 cal 4000 series pistols, the extractor design was the same. So at least it isn't just something they slapped on there, they have already been using it for years and know it works. Everything else is standard 1911, so parts and accessories shouldn't be a problem. They have been making 1911 frames for another well known company for years, so they have experience there too. It should be a decent gun for a decent price. Time will tell whether they got it right or not. 0
