.45ACP choice
I'm looking at either a Para-Ord 14-45 LDA or the CZ97B. Both are 10-shot, and I like the feel of both. The CZ runs about $200 less than the Para Ord. Is there any significant factor worth $200 that would make me choose the Para Ord over the CZ?

I have never heard anything bad about the Witness line of fire arms. For the 1911 types they will go with the Para Ord LDA. Since 10 rds seems to be waht you are looking for the Glock would work as well. If you steped down to an 8rd pistal I would recomend the Sig P220. It comes down to what feels good in your hand and which one can you shoot well with. My 2 cents[8D]

The para-ord is heavier and you will feel less recoil than with a lighter .45 like a glock or CZ, it also has a very sweet DA trigger pull compared to the others as well as a very easy SA (on SA models)trigger pull and it still retains the classic 1911 thumb and back strap safety which I happen to really like. They are accurate out of the box, perhaps not "tack drivers" but certainly accurate enough to hit what you are aiming at back at a reasonable distance for a stock firearm, you have plenty of "meat" on the gun for modifications if you choose to have any done and there are plenty of after market modifications and parts you can purchase for them that don't require a degree in engineering and gunsmithing.
The only drawback to a para ordnance 14-45 is perhaps it's somewhat large size and weight which dosen't necessarily make it the first choice for a concealed carry especially if you carry it on your belt you will notice a "sag" on your drawers.
The CZ's and what not are lighter and less costly, a bit smaller and easier to conceal. They and other similar pistols usually carry just as many rounds. I haven't found a trigger quite as nice as the P-O LDA's. I can't really say much bad about the CZ's as they seem to offer plenty of bang for the buck.0 -
Both are large pistols. Both weigh 40 oz. The CZ 97B is a wonderful traditional double action 45. The Para LDA is a wonderful non-traditional double action ONLY 45. The CZ does have a re-strike capablility if the chambered round does not go boom. The LDA doesn't. it must be reset (racked). Hi-cap 14 round mags are avail for the LDA. Not so the CZ. Which one feels better to you? Go with that one.

After putting both a Cz97 on a scale and a para ord lda 14-45, the para ord is about 7oz heavier, LOL I know whoopie damn doo. Almost half a pound is almost half a pound though. 0 -

i have a para and i love it. there are so many parts out ther for these guns its rediculous. i dont have a cz but i do have a witness which is the same style of gun you are looking at but in 40 s&w. both guns are great but i like the para alot better. the weight of the para makes it easier to shoot, the trigger is awesome, you can find hi-cap magazines rather easily, and i think it is just an all-around better gun. if you choose the para i dont think you will ever be sorry. In other words go for the para. 0 -

I bought a Ruger P90 and I love it. Shoots well, breaks down easy (with some good advice) and is a rugged gun. About $400 but well worth it.

A+ on the Ruger as far as the CZ goes its one of the best guns ever made IMHO its the AK of the Handgun world.I have a Para Ordinance P-16 and its an excellant gun,but Ive yet to get used to the trigger.The CZ is cheaper and is as good as the Para or better.
