"Best" stock bedding release agent
I've tried many products while bedding stocks, sometimes getting into trouble. What is the best and most dependable release agent?

I've always rubbed the barrel down with hard paraffin wax before bedding, releases clean and easy. 0 -
I've used most of the commercial release agents and would rate Brownell's as good or better than most. As an inexpensive RELIABLE alternative, I've used good old Johnson's Paste Wax with never a problem. Just be very sure you apply it to the ENTIRE surface, and everywhere you may accidentally get the bedding compound in contact with.

Most silicone sprays will work well too, as long as they're allowed to dry completely before bedding takes place. I've heard folks have used WD40 also, which is mostly silicone, solvents, & penetrating oil. Hard paste wax is an excellent agent but can be hard to use on small or intricately shaped surfaces. 0 -
Kiwi boot polish.

I usually use some WD-40, just watch for the leftover glass to set then crack her free. 0 -
Brownells spray on is the best for me.

I agree with Johnsons Paste Wax.Cheap and works like a champ. 0 -
FYI, if you get one that will not release put it in the deep freeze for a couple of hours and when you remove it strike the under side of the bbl near the forend with a rubber mallet and it will release.[;)]
