Anyone know the average price of mauser 7mm rounds
I've seen them on gunbroker but they were around 75 cents to 1 dollar per bullet. And its like whoa. I've seen 8mm mauser ammo..saw 1400 rounds for 100 dollars...soooo wtf?

It depends if you are looking at commercial or military surplus. The commercial is higher of course. There is less surplus 7mm than there is 8mm. I have access to some of the less expensive 7mm ammo. It isn't as cheap as the 8mm, but it isn't $.75-1.00 a round either. LRARMSX@MCHSI.COM 0 -
About how much is the 7mm military surplus ammunition? 0 -
That 8mm ammo is an unbelievable deal. That is Turkish surplus, corrosive, like most military surplus ammo. It is pretty good ammo, you get a few misfires. The market is flooded with that stuff right now, it is enough to make you want to buy an 8mm. One distributor said a few months ago that he had 10 million rounds of it.
7mm is not as common as 8mm but it was pretty widely used and a good deal can be had. You can go to J&G Sales for hunting ammo. This is current production Sellier and Bellot, pretty good ammo. Box of 20 for $7.95

You can go to samcoglobal for milsurp. They have Belgian mfg. from the '70s, non corrosive, 400 rounds for $79.60 That is 19+ cents a shot.

There is nothing finer than getting a case of military surplus ammo from that big brown truck. Open that box, cut open that metal. Looks good, smells good, is good.0 -
FHP, welcome aboard!
A big part of the situation is purely supply. The 7x57 was only used briefly by a handful of secondary powers while the 8x57 was the main cartridge used by Germany and many lesser powers for well over fifty years. Many more nations made much more 8x57 ammo = bigger stocks of surplus.
$20 box for shooting ammo is not all that high, actually, for factory ammo. But the sticker shock is a good reason to start re-loading!0 -
I saw your earlier post asking about buying ammo. It is no problem: Send Samco a photocopy of your driver's license and a statement saying that it is legal for you to buy ammo. Send them a postal money order and UPS will have the ammo on your doorstep in ten days. Lots and lots of ammo gets bought by private individuals this way.
Are you planning to buy a 7mm?0 -
For new hunting ammo $17.00 to $20.00 with 140 or 175 grain soft points that price isn't too bad. If you do reload for an older rifle, the brass lasts real long because of the lower pressures. 0 -
I just bought some chillian 7mm for 3.65 a box of 20 The most I have payed was 13.00 a box of 20 for pmc ammo 0 -
Regarding the 7mm from Chile. I didn't get much accuracy from it. For commercial hunting ammo in good rifles, you can't beat Hornady light mags. I would'nt used it in the old 93/95 mausers.
