Ruger P90 .45 ACP

I just purchased a Ruger P90 and I have read some things that say it is rather unfriendly when it comes to field stripping and reassembly. Does any one have comments or suggestions? Are there videos or detailed instructions other than the owner's manual to assist me? Thanks! Pats49

  I would disagree with the info you received and state that it is a very easy pistol to field strip. It is for me and I have 4 thumbs most of the time! I used the instructions that came with the gun the first time, no problem. Go ahead and try it, you can't hurt it. Did you get a stainless model? I love mine. Its a little on the large size but after all, it is a .45> Good luck

  I have the stainless steel model. I am excited to fire it. I always like to know how it works before hand for cleaning and maintenance. I am also all thumbs and doubt my field stripping abilities all the time. I am just afraid I won't reassemble it properly. I would love to see it done and follow along with something. Thanks for the tip.

  I have a P90DC and it is very easy to field strip. The gun shoots better (or I shoot the gun better) than my Kimber CDP both in 45acp.The kicker is I could have bought 3 Rugers for the price of the Kimber.I do not know if the basic design has changed mine was made in 1991 but the only trick is the barrel link detent. Just make sure that guide rod is in the detent on the barrel link and you won't have any trouble field stripping the gun. Also make sure that the magazine/ bolt hold open lever is depressed prior to pulling the slide off the gun or attempting to put the slide back on the frame. Follow the instructions and you cant go wrong.

  I've had my P90 stainless for some years now, and they are great. Easy to strip, just follow the manual. They feed everything are very accurate, and yes, they are a little large, but rugged as hell.

  I can tell you how to field strip it in less than 60 seconds if you don't have the manual. Let me know. I have the KP-90DC model.
