winchester model 61 info???????

i was wondering if winchester ever came out with a model 61 with an octigon barrel if so please explain how i could possibly get one ,also is the model 61 a good gun to purchase and what kind of price should i expect to pay? thanks (shotgunred)

  The 24" round barrel came standard on the Model 61, but Winchester would fit an octagon barrel on special order into the 1950's. Very few were actually made, however, so they are rarely found today.
  
  The 61 is an excellent rifle, and very collectable. You can expect to pay over $500 for a .22LR in excellent condition, considerably more for the .22 Magnum version, and more yet for an original octagon barrel.
  
  Watching this auction site is a good way to find Winchester 61's, or enlist the help of a dealer who specializes in collectable Winchesters. If you are in southeast TX we'd be glad to help.

  Some early 61's in the WRF caliber were offered in octagon barrels. Occasionally you will see one offered in Gunlist. There are always 61 collectors with all the variations available at the big Tulsa gunshow.
  Some of the variations are 22 shot only, octagon barrels, specific caliber only (22lr only), (WRF only), (WMR only) grooved recievers and many other variations. If you go to the Tulsa show, TAKE MUCH MONEY!

  Winchester made the Model 61 Hammerless the Model 61 Octagon, and the Model 61 Magnum(.22 Win. mag.). The Hammerless are the "cheapest" at about $600 in 98%, followed by the 61 Octagon at about $1500 in 98%. I'm going to the Tulsa Show! Hear it's AAAAWWWSome![:p][:p]
