Colt Trooper MK II .357 Nickel - Is it a good buy

Can anybody tell me what a fair price is for a Colt Trooper Mk II . 357 nickel finish. The gun is probably 90% and has a target hammer trigger with black after market grips. I'm looking for a all around gun for whitetail hunting and some target. I found this gun at a Pawn shop and it needs a good cleaning. I don't see any pitting or dings,etc. I was able to negotiate a price of $325 (including tx)which seems fair. The gun comes with a 7-10 trial so I can shoot it. Is there something I should know about this gun, performance, accuracy, overall reliability?? This is my first hand gun purchase - can't find alot about this gun as it was last produced in 1969. Would greatly appreciate expert comment and advice..

  As a first pistol purchase, you have made an excellent choice.
  I own several of the Troopers and they are an extremely reliable wheel gun. With a 7 to 10 day firing trial you will know the reliability and accuracy. More than fair inspection period plus you can fire the gun. You would not receive that on a new gun purchase.

  The colt trooper is a very good choice for a handgun.You might run into some problems in hunting whitetails with the shiny nickel finnish.The price sounds like its reasonable.Good luck.Don't forget that you can use 38 caliber ammo for plinking with.

  I think Troopers are great,and the price you quoted is average.Good close range deer gun with the right ammo. Smith629[:D]
