12ga question?
Any reloader could help me:
What are the external dimensions of the brass base/rim of a 12ga shotgun shell?
I did a search, but can't seem to come up with an cartridge dimensions.
Thanks in advance!

totally helped, thanks!
basically, i am looking for a brass cartridge case (50bmg, 700NE, something...) that one could cut down to a 12 or 20 ga brass hull.
I know .303 Enfield can make a 410.
I see some fairly priced brass shotgun shells, but you always have to buy 10 or more- which ups the initial expense considerably.

cpileri,
As you know, there are several manufacturers of "all brass" shotshell hulls and their prices generally run from ~$30-$40 per box of 10 shells. From a liability point of view, just remember these are made for a specific purpose, ie. for use in shotguns and therefore designed with all the correct sizes, thicknesses, etc., and are sold with an implied "fitness for a particular purpose." Anyway I know it's fun to experiment safely so best of luck and here's another link you may find interesting:
