Colt Trooper Mark III
I am looking for a camp gun in 357 mag. I know I do not want a Ruger. What can anyone tell me about the Colt Trooper Mark 3. I always wanted a colt and the price on this model looks about right. Should I go with a Smith and Wesson? If so which one? Since this is for camping and hunting trips I want to keep the barrel length at 4 inches. This is just a back up to my rifle. Thanks for any and all input.

I think that you can get your pick of well-used .357 mag revolvers in the $200-300 range, and many will be in the more desireable stainless steel. His gun may be worth $400 if NIB, but not as you described.
I'm sure he figures that he can always lower the price.

He may not be as crazy as you think. If the stag grips are real they are worth 75-125 and the gun in this area would sell in the 300-350 range.

I bought a Mk #3 4" bbl in 357 used, real tight, some blue wear, but, tight...$300. Unless, its the only gun in the world I wouldn't go 4 0 -
[:p]Thanks for your input. I ended up paying him $225 for the gun. He is an ex-police officer. Carried it for about five (5) years. It's alittle dirty, with a few nicks on the handle, but all in all looks pretty good. He did throw in a real nice holster. Thanks, for your input. KEN

[:D] HI guy! I really appreciate your input. I ended up buying the gun for $225.00. This gun was owned by one of my associates, ex cop, carried it for five (5) years. It's dirty, but nothing I can't take care of. I'm going to clean it up and take the TX Concelled Gun Classes to get my permit to carry a weapon. Don't intend on selling it. Kind of feel like you do, not too many people out there want one. ONE big thing I did learn was that it was a great shooting gun and plenty powerful. Need to figure out which bullets will be the best. Thanks, again, KEN

[8]O.K. - I decided to give it a shot. $225.00, not bad prive. It's a little dirty, but going to clean it up and keep it. Can't buy too many 357 Magnums for that price. This one has real nice wood handles, with a few minor nicks. I think it will clean up to be a real nice gun. Cross your fingers for me. Thanks, KEN
