I've had a couple... so-so, but I believe that you really get what you pay for when looking at optics. If you like nice, sharp, clear images, spend the money for a good one from the start.

I've tried a couple of the Red Star 3 powers and found that they left a lot to be disired. The mounting latch screw lever broke off of one mount and was impossible to replace and the mount itself was not aligned with the scope and there was not enough adjustment available to zero the thing- a total waste of money. The other scope had a good solid mount but the optics were pretty poor and it was a real pain to zero and adjust. This scope does a decent job with my Ciener .22LR conversion kit in an indoor range- but that is its limit. These two scopes only cost about $25 each a decade ago, but I think you'd be better served with something better.

Thanks gents, thats the feedback I needed. I agree, you get the optics you pay for. I use Leupolds on all my hunting guns. I was curious about these cheepies though for plinking around. I will only use open sights on the AR-15 for serious use. Scopes , even luepolds and zeiss will fail with rough usuasge.
