Savage Utility Gun

I have seen an old ad for a Savage "utility gun", but have never heard of or seen this firearm. This gun was touted (in the ad) to be two guns in one for bird or beast and is a rifle and shotgun in one. It appears to have two interchangeable barrels on a single- shot frame.

Any idea of the model number on this gun and any informaiton or history?

  Sounds like a model 24. Savage has been making them forever.

  That's what it is. An early version of the Model 24. Usually back then they were in .22 and 20 gauge if I remember right.

  I believe that is the Savage Models 219, 220, 221, 222, 223, 227, 228, 229 series. Different combinations of interchangable 12ga, 16ga, 20ga, 28ga and .410 bore shotguns barrels and .22 Hornet, .25-20, .32-20, or .30-30 rifle barrels. The Model 219 was just the gun with the rifle barrel and the Model 220 was the gun with just the shotgun barrel. The Model 221 was .30-30 and 12 ga. barrels; Model 222 was .30-30 and 16 ga. barrels; Model 223 was .30-30 and 20 ga. barrels; Model 227 was .22 Hornet and 12 ga.; Model 228 was .22 Hornet and 16 ga.; Model 229 was .22 Hornet and 20 ga barrels. Cool guns, I which I had a Model 222.

  Good Afternoon Gentlemen and Ladies: The Savage Model 221 Utility Gun....Same at the Model 219, Except Caliber 30/30 only....! Supplied in combination with an interchangable 30-inch 12 gauge shotgun barrel....All models of Utility Gun discontinued...In Good Condition and with Both barrels.....Worth $125.00 to $200.00..........Best.....

  I have a 219 in 30-30. Neat little gun. In it's past someone either did a bunch of work on the original wood or did a custom stock. Did a nice job, contrasting wood grip cap, decent fit. Very nice case colors on the rec. Being a hammerless it looks much better than the H&R's.
  
  They were so proud of it that they engraved their name on the side of the rec with an electric engraver.
  
  Heart rending.
  
  
  I am going to put it on the auction site when I get my new comp.
