Springfield P9
I have recently been made an offer to purchase a Springfield P9. It says factory compensated on the one right hand side. Are these rare? I've never seen or heard of a factory compensated Springfield P9 which it says in large letters on the left hand side of the slide. Do I remember the wrong model #? It's new in the original Springfield box with brushes etc. I seems to be hesitant to sell it like it's almost one of a kind, not to mention he's asking what I consider to be a significant $ ammount as in over $1,000. How unigue is this piece and how accurate.

A Springfield P-9 is actually just a EAA Witness by any other name. The guns were built by Tanfoglio in Italy. Springfield imported them in the early 1990's and had their name stamped on them. It didn't take long for people to figure out that they weren't really anything, but an EAA Witness with a Springfield name and a higher price tag. If you want the gun, do whatever you'd like, but don't buy it as an investment. You can buy a Witness Gold Team or Silver Team series pistol for the same money or less. It might possibly be cheaper just to buy a standard one and dress it yourself. You can buy the ported barrels from EAA and have them fitted to a new gun. 0 -
Gotta agree with IRARMSX, found your "FACTORY COMP" listed in my book. They only differences from the standard model is the "triple port compensator" and the "bi-tone finish", everything else is gingerbread. "They were dropped from the Springfield product line in 93". No reason was given!
As the price difference in my book is only $125 between the P9 Standard and the P9 Factory Comp it looks to me like the seller is letting his delusions run wild!0
