I am looking at buying a colt national match,but don't know the year or its worth.It is about 70% and everything is tight.The serial # is 3447-NM Thanks all

Serial shows 1958 date. Book about $550 in 70%.

Good and correct answer, punchie. Mr Gee, when the exact serial number is given, at least in this case, it identifies exactly the model and vintage as punchie points out. None of the variations you meniton are possible with this serial number. 0 -
jud....well maybe i should have not put my 2cents in, in the first place, i'm sorry for that. but in the second place [make that 3cents] i would still wanna know what the slide said , as the frame serial number does give make an model [of the frame]......... slides can be an do get change to suit anyone likings, so before giving an answer to a incomplete question, in which U asked whats it WORTH , for one i don't care whats it worth but U do...or did i mis-under-stand the the question maybe you just wanted to know what the frame was worth? sorry.... juddroy asked about a Colt National Match and then gave a serial number indicating a fairly early Gold Cup National Match .45. Colt National Match pistols with the "NM" suffix indicate a Gold Cup made from 1956 through 1970, when the Series 70 pistols replaced them. While you are right that slides can be changed, I do not automatically assume that when a pistol is clearly identified by model name and an appropriate serial number. The "NM" suffix still, to me, eliminates any of the variations you mention (except the Gold Cup reference of course).0 -
