Blue Wonder Gun Blue - Problem Update

I answered one of the topics about Blue Wonder few days back telling of my problem unable to make it work. Today the Blue Wonder inventor visited our local gun shop here in Ardmore, Oklahoma. He demonstrated his exceptional product and diagnosed my problem as the product had been Xrayed sometime probably during shipment, which ruins it. He performed the blue job that I had failed with. He also replaced my complete Blue Wonder kit. He did several demo jobs of touch up, reblue, etc. all very impressive. Good to have people who stand 100% behind their product and make things right.

  I have removed all the light rust(no pitting)along with some of the blueing on a Winchester Model 94 receiver with 0000 steelwool. Does the finish on the metal have to be polished before I use the Blue Wonder? Will the product fill any imperfections? Will it blend in with the blue that is still there? I don't mind spending the money if it will do the job, I just don't want to waste the cash if it needs to be stripped and hot dipped in the first place to get the results I am looking for.

  I hope the gun is a pre 64 or it most likley won't take a reblue.

  No, it is a post 64. Why don't you think it will work?
  Do the people at Blue Wonder know this?

  I don't know much about the newer post 64s but the older ones could not be reblued.They used a different metal for the receiver,barrels reblue OK.

  I believe I read or heard..somewhere..that the pre-64's were either high nickle or s/s....????

  Onesigfan questions. Following is what I learned yesterday seeing Blue Wonder demos, and questions asked and answered by those present. Blue Wonder is not going to cure metal surface problems such as filling pitting or scratches. It does not require the surface to be polished but it won't improve a rough surface. A touch up job was done on a Remington .270 (Model 260 I think) that had original blue missing from handling wear at the balance point. It covered completely and blended perfectly with the original finish. The blending can be controlled to some extent by applying more or less BW for a lighter or darker coverage. My opinion about the 0000 steel wool question, is it will do a good job but might look better with a higher polish. I would try it and if not satisfied, polish it more and blue it again. On an ordinary gun job, either way it would look a lot better than bare steel. I have no info about how it will perform with your Winchester question. One final point that was important to me was how hot to get the metal. Hot to the touch, a little too hot to hold on to but you could pick up the item quickly and maybe have to put it down as too hot to hold - if that gives the idea. Hope this helps.

  I'll add some more tonight or tomorrow when I have more time but the post '64 Winchesters have carburized receivers. This is a process where carbon powder is sprayed onto the metal while it is red hot and it "hardens" the surface - but because of this, they cannot be blued. The barrels will blue fine.
