Mass. ammo laws
I sold a box of Black Talon on Gunbroker to a guy from Mass. Hasn't been shipped yet. He has a Class 1 permit issued there. Just to cover my butt I was wondering what the law was there, as I have seen some auctions for ammo that state NO SALES to Ma. Md. etc. I have tried BATF, NRA. sites but can find nothing specific to answer my question. Any help will be appreciated!

I don't know the exact laws of the wonderful cesspool immediately south of me, but I require all purchasers of ammunition in all jurisdictions to provide a signed statement asserting that it's legal for them to buy and receive the item. With all the varying state / municipal laws & regulations, which regularly are amended / rescinded / augmented / re-interpreted, no single individual can hope to know all the details, especially if they are not available on the Internet. This way the burden is on the buyer to know and comply with the laws of the residential jurisdiction. I don't know that it would hold up in court, but for sure it is evidence of a good faith effort by a seller to observe the law. 0 -
I always require a signed ammo statement, and proof of age. This is the first sale I have made to Mass. and I noticed some sellers just will not deal in the more restrictive states. Guess I'm covered as well as I can be with the above proof(s). Thanks for the reply. 0 -
Class 1 permit in Mass. License to carry firearms, including high capacity and concealed weapons. Must be at least 21yrs of age. He/She can certainly buy any ammo in Mass so there shouldn't be a problem, but "never say never". 0 -
To the best of my knowledge, only New Jersey has a general ban for ammunition of the hollowpoint variety which is what Black Talon is. A number of municipalities have bans against frangible ammo.
