Information on guns
I have two pistols with Smith's Pending stamped on top of both of them. One is a seven shot 22 short dated april 15,1863 serial#2802 stamped on the bottom,also No. 22 stamped on the top. The other one is dated April 16,1873 No. 41 stamped on the top serial #1804 stamped on the bottom. Both guns you have to pull a pin under the barrell to release the cyl. the same pin you use to eject the shells. The second gun i believe is a 40 cal. Any information would be greatly appricated. Found a reference in "FLAYDERMAN'S GUIDE" that might? shed light on your revolvers heritage.
Otis A. Smith Company of Rockfall Connecticut was a manufacture of and held many patents on pocket revolvers during the 1870's-1890's.
Many of their spur trigger revolvers are often only marked with the caliber "NO. 22", "NO. 41". Similar to yours.
"No other makers names or markings otherwise appearing" according to FLAYDERMAN.0
