Primer Fouling

I was looking at some fire cases from 250 3000 reloads last night and noticed a rough corroded looking area from a spot on the primer to the edge of the rim.

Any one want to hazard a guess what would cause this.

  Was this mark on the inside of the case or the outside?

  Without seeing it it is hard to say, but it sounds like the primer pockets are streched and some of the gas is leaking past the primer and across the area between the boltface and the case head causing some erosion.[?]
