refinish on pre-ban AR-15

I have a pre-ban bushmaster AR-15 with some nasty scratches i was thinking about refinishing it, could the original finish be replicated if so would this decrese the value?

  Here's an idea for you--why not send it back to Bushmaster and have them do the refinishing? Then your refinish would be the current finish, and probably have less effect on the value. You might not even be able to tell that it was refinished. I would specify that I wanted the scratches removed, so that you don't get it back with the scratches visible under a new finish.
