How old is my Python

Today I purchaced a blued 4 inch Python from a retired deputy who bought the gun new in 1968. It came with the original box also. Serial number is 982XX. All help greatly appreciated.

  Looking in back of Wilsons book Colt, American Legend, shows Pythons made in 1969 having serial number range of 90,000 to 99,999. After this serial numbers started E1001. Hope that helps some. I have a 6 inch bright nickel finish in that serial range. Beautiful guns.
