SAVAGE : stevens 987 prob.
Ive had this gun for many years and here recently it started double shooting. That wasnt a major concern to me cause I have a pistol that does the same thing. But the other day I broke it out and decided to shoot it for fun. I loaded it, chambered a round and pulled the trigger once and only once and well it emptied the 12 rounds out before I realized what happened. Most people would say cool and leave it at that but I have plans of handing it down to my kid once hes of age and I figure a full automatic .22 isnt exactly the best thing for a beginner. What could be the problem and what would be the cheapest way of fixing it the gun didnt cost that much in the first place and the last thing I need it to pay a gunsmith a ton just to fix something I can do at home for the cost of the part. Any ideas Id appreciate it.

It sounds like possibly the lubricant you have used in the past on the gun has caused the parts to become sticky. thorough cleaning, and lubricating with a good lubricant such as Proshot could possible cure the problem. 0
