shipping of muzzel loader

Can anyone tell me what I have to do to ship a muzzel loader to someone if I sell it on the auction site. Can I ship it direct to a person or do I have to ship it to and FFL. Also what is the best way to ship It.

  Jeff, about your muzzle loader shipping......1st of all check with your state to see if there are any state reg. 2nd. Shipping can be direct as long as there is not powder or caps shipped with the muzzle loader. I would box it in a factory shipping box. If that isn't avail. take it to a mailbox unlimited if there is one in your area for packaging. Ship UPS or fedex. and request adult signature only.

  Jeff,also the T/C Encore and the like are supposed to go to a ffl.

  I had trouble sending my muzzleloader pistol and rifle recently. I went to several UPS outlets and they wouldn't ship it because one box was labeled as a pistol and one was labeled as a rifle. Anyway, I tried to tell them about how standard blackpowder muzzleloaders can be shipped, one of them even called a local FFL. Anyway, after going to 3 places, I finally shipped the package labeled "CVA, lock, stock, and barrel" without any trouble...
  
  The other 2 posters gave the rest of the info... Check with the requirements for the state you are sending it to, don't send powder or caps with the gun, and require adult signature (I require the DL of the buyer, but some buyers will object to this).
  
  
  It doesn't matter what you shoot, just shoot it well...
