Can a browning Hi power be carried cocked and locked? Just curious.

  The answer to your question is yes. It is said that John Browning felt it was safe to carry cocked and locked , (condition one ). The M1911 .45 a.c.p. grip safety was dropped in his 1935 Hi Power as unecessary. A magazine saftey / disconnector was added. Be advised people have been known to become irrational discussing this method of carry.

  YES, ....BUT. The Browning safety is pretty small and on some guns pretty stuff to get it to function. I replaced mine with a larger easier to operate one.Problem solved. Enjoy.

  I know it is a sticky topic; I was examining one, and I did check the safety disconnect and hammer locks. I just wanted to make sure that this was something contemplated by Mr. Browning.

  Why? It takes a second to cock the hammer and release the safety.

  Cocked and locked is how it was designed to be carried, and that is how i carry mine.

  Cocked and locked or loaded mag-empty chamber are the only safe ways to carry the p-35. Hammer down on a loaded chamber is no good.
