Help to find spring for shotgun, plz....
Hello all you experts.
I was wondering if any of you could help me out, with finding a spring for a double barrel, 12 gauge Winchester 101 XTR "Lightweight" shotgun.
Just got the gun in for repair (sparetime "job" and interest), the guy is happy about the gun.
The spring I'm looking for, is the spring that moves a part of the trigger-assembly forward against the little arms that releases the cocked hammer.
I assume it's a spring of some sort, because it will only fire with the barrels pointed downwards, where the part have fallen forwards because of it's own weight.

For better detail, I've taken out the left-side hammerspring.
The part that is missing the spring, is the part that sits between the actual trigger - and the safety-button.
The part I'm describing is sort of a movable arm, that is mounted in the trigger, it sits as the last big movable part in the gun, just before the piece of metal that holds the rear stock onto the receiver.
This is a Select-barrel type safety, lets you choose wich barrel to fire first.
As I see it, when a shot is fired(and everything works), the loose part is knocked backwards due to recoil, letting go of the first hammer-release-arm, and being pressed forward by a spring of some sort to take hold of the second shots hammer-release-arm.
I hope you can help me out here, I don't know what the part is called or where I might get hold of it.
It's an older gun, probably obsolete - Winchester is notorious in making models, stop fabrication and make it obsolete.

Nanoq- That gun needs to come apart, the parts degreased and wire brushed or throw the action in a can of ATF for a week to get all that rust out. 0 -

Thanks for the advice, if it was my own gun - I would allready have stripped it and totally cleaned it for rust.
Eventhough I would never have let it come to what this gun have come to (I think it's good you haven't seen the barrel - phew)
It's just that I know what it's gonna be used for (brace yourself now) and that is throwing it in a boat, getting seawater/saltwater and very rarely any maintenance.
The guy just wants it to work, have disassembled it himself and most likely lost the spring and then come to me. (probably the spring was broken or something, he was a little short when I talked to him)
There is nothing that works as a spring or anything on that arm in the gun right now.

Hi Peter,
The spring you are looking for is inside the trigger.
The part that you are looking at that moves back and
forth is called an Inertia Block. Yes, it works just about
like you described. Where this (inertia block) hooks to
the trigger, there is a spring (coil type) inside the trigger.
To remove the trigger, you will have to drive out the trigger pin
then you can pull down on the trigger and you will see a small pin
on the trigger....towards the back of the trigger. Drive this little pin out and you should be able to remove the trigger and inertia block from each other. From the looks of this gun, once this is done, you should be able to clean up those parts and the spring and get it working again. If the spring is broken, email me and let me know. I have them. Hope this helps you out.
