Value of a Ruger K944 .40 cal?

I have a Ruger pistol in .40 caliber. It is stainless with 5 magazines. When new, it jammed a bit. I sent it back to the factory, they did some machining on it, and now it fires flawlessly. And, maybe its my imagination, it fires tighter groups as well (they changed the extractor and did some machining).
I have another pistol in the same caliber and was thinking about selling this one. Well, my wife and I had a baby and she quit her job is the real reason. Anyway, a guy at the local gunshows, Kansas City, has been pestering me to sell it. He likes the Hogue grips I have on it as well. I don't know if I will but I have no idea what to even ask. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Ruger P series hanguns are great guns, I own two as well. But they don't command high prices. I am no gun salesman, but I would say around $250 to $300, and that may be high. I just bought bought a brand new P97 for only $340 from a dealer. Hope that helps.

They are only worth $10 but because of your situation I will give you $20.
Seriously though, a Ruger KP-944 list price is $575
The list price for a P-97 is $460
If you have a Gun dealer pestering you for it there must be a reason. Maybe because of the factory rework. You should be able to get $300. to $350 for it. Stainless Steel commands about $50 more than Blue.

Thanks that is a big help. I may end up keeping it as it is a good shooter. That or I'll trade it on a full sized Ruger .45 but not for a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong time.0 -

Thanks, that was a good post. I haven't made up my mind yet. Since it came back, it really does shoot much better with much tighter groups. I don't know what they did other than change the extractor and grind on something (the gun store had to clean the metal filings out of it) but it shoots great now. I take it from your handle that you like Rugers?
