8mm rechamber
Can the 8mm Mauser be rechambered to 8mm Rem Mag or any other catridges?[?]

8mm-06 will fit with just a rechambering. 8mm Rem Mag will fit with a bit more work and expense. Why not just load it with 8mm mauser ammo that is loaded to European specs. The American ammo makers download this cartridge but the Europeans load it right up there to equal the 30-06.

I have an 8mm Yugo k98 that I want to rechamber to an 8mm-06. I want to gain experience and figured this is a cheap why to try. What is needed besides a chamber reamer so that my rechambering experience is a success. What publications exist to help me. Thanks in advance for your response.
I agree with your statement to load the 8mm to European specs, just make sure you have a .323 and not a .318 bore. American ammo makers indicate they download the round because of this concern.

I think that, unless a Mauser pre-dates 1910, that whole .323-vs-.318 issue is a moot one. And I'm certain that any 7.92mm Mauser made after WWI is chambered to the .323 spec, so there ain't much chance you're going to get one of the smaller ones, unless you've picked up some really ancient South American shootin' iron. Pick up a good German-made 98K or 48 Yugo, and you're perfectly safe. For more information, find a copy of Robert Ball's "Mauser Military Rifles of the World." 8MM REM. MAG WON'T FIT IN THE MAGAZINE (WITHOUT A HOLE LOT OF METAL WORK). 8MM/06 IS EASY ALL YOU NEED IS A REAMER AND A SET 0F /06 HEADSPACE GUAGES. I LIKE TO SET THESE UP AS A CRUSH FIT WITH THE GO GUAGE. 0 -
the big problem with the 8mm 06 is the Frame Rails...You can load the Magazine Well with 4 8mm Rounds and they will Feed and Chamber with No problems...Then You Chamber for the 06 and find that in most cases the 06 case will Pop up on You!! The 06 Case is bigger in Diameter and requires grinding the Rails from underneath and getting the correct Angle to allow the Rounds to Stagger and Rest securely against the rails...In a Hurry? Rack the Bolt and try to chamber a round in the Field...9 times outta 10 The Bolt will slide over the case and not Chamber the Round...Pull the Bolt and lift it at the Backend and if you have ground the Frame Rails correctly you might get a round to Chamber..Rack the Bolt again and its possible to have several rounds popup..Its a Pain in the Patootie...I just had one reconverted back to 8mm...Shoots wonderful...Somewhere around here I have the old 8mm 06 Barrel I replaced...been planning on using it for a Fishing Weight!...

I just went and Looked at J&G's Add...I'm wrong! Its $29.85 in 5 Round Clips in Bandolers...700..SEVEN HUNDRED ROUNDS...for under Thirty bucks........

I don't know...? never asked..Don't make any differance to Me, as I can shoot all day and Clean my Rifle when I get home...been shooting Corrosive Ammo for over 50 years...never had a problem....J&G has an 800 number...Call them and ask...or drop them an email..Check the WEB SITE....

I agree with captain, why would you want to rechamber the gun. 8mm is so cheap and readily available. Unless you just wanna spend lots of money to have a custom sporterized mauser (there are plenty out there), then don't bother. 0 -
Unless you are planning some super-custom banger, why rechamber!! You can buy 8mm (full power, not US standard) at about 1/3 that it would cost in materials alone to reload 8/06. Furthermore remember that every dollar you put into modifying a military rifle reduces its value by TWO dollars.
