Thanks very much Charlie, I'm honoured to be among such knowledgeable people. I started collecting around '72 when I was sixteen. The GCA was just a nusiance to my local gunshop, so I could buy Mauser rifles and pistols whenever my $80 a week Burger King paycheck would allow. Couldn't afford 1903 Springfields ($125 APIECE!). So, I settled on Mausers, much to my good luck! My first pistol was a little Mauser Sidelatch 1910. Serial number 3099 (That I still own). Back then, you could write to Mauserjadgwaffen and they would politely tell you in a return letter that due to the war, no records were available concerning any of their weapons. Since those days I've aquired, through my travels with the USN, a few Mausers. Some of my rarer ones are a G41M, a High-Turret byf44 (a real one), a 98B, and a four digit .32 kal 1914. Got most all except (and one day will find!) a T-Gewehr, a REAL 98a (not the AZ) and 1915 Flyer's Automatic Rifle.
Hell, I could ramble on about guns for days.
Looking forward to some good conversations with all of you guys!
