thinking about trading guns

i currently have a smith&wesson model 10 38 special with a 4" heavy barrell. i like this gun except for a few things: #1 fixed sights that are black, and i cant aim very well in low light situations. #2 it isn't very concealable. I dont carry it around, but if i were to go somewhere i didnt feel safe, i'd want it on me. #3 only 6 shots, and in a bad situation, we all know that most of your shots are gonna be misses because of adrenaline, and fear, and so forth. i can hit pretty well with this gun while target shooting, but i'm just not sure how well i would do with it in a defense situation. i really like the idea of having alot of shots available, just in case

i am thinking about seeing how much trade in i could get toward maybe a ruger 9mm because the general consensus is that rugers are the more reliable of the less expensive guns, and i'm on a tight budget. i really want a 45, but i cant afford one, and the 9mm is alot cheaper to shoot, and i believe that shot placement with any caliber is key. can anyone make any suggestions for me? i'm not gonna do anything until i have thought it through.

  Keep it and buy a Keltec 9mm. Pay it off over 30days. I think at most it will cost you $300. These Keltecs are great guns! Reliable, accurate, concealable, & seamingly inexpensive.

  Not gonna get much for a model 10 since the market has been flooded with these for quite a while. Maybe $75.00- $100 if your lucky.

  hey drobs, i like the keltec except for that darn trigger. it reminds me of the trigger on a sig 9mm i shot recently. i want the gun to fire as soon as i put a little pressure on the trigger, just like my 38 does. i just cant get used to pulling the trigger back that far. it messes up my aim.
  
  mfi, you're probably right about how much i'd get. that's a shame. this is a really good gun.
  
  i wonder if i could have night sights installed for less than a new gun would cost. then i could carry speed loaders and problem solved.

  You are right, that Keltec trigger is horrid! You definitely won't roll over in bed in the middle of the night and accidently pull that one! Night sights figure on $150-$200 max including gunsmithing.
