Building AK-47 Krinkov from kits...???

I already own one of the SAR-1 7.62x39 and SAR-3 .223 Ak-47 rifles, and in my lastest Shotgun News i saw an add for Krinkov parts kits in 7.62x39, 5.45, or .223. I was wondering if it is possible to build one of these Krinkovs on one of my AK recievers?? Also, what legalities are they concerning this?

The add states "Brand new parts set for milled and stamped recievers, includes everything minus the reciever and trunion block" The companys website is www.k-varcorp.com

So, if the recievers from my rifles could not be used, what recievers could be and what is a trunion block? Sorry for all the questions, any help is much appreciated!

  I'm not sure what paperwork you will need to fill out, but you would need to pay the $200 ATF ClassIII tax for building an SBR (Short Barrel Rifle). Next, I would get a new receiver from Florida Gunworks rather than trying to get your SAR apart. Good luck.

  You can build the kit guns off your existing reciever or buy another reciever either stamped or milled to assemble a new gun.
  
  Beware that the barrel length must be at least 16 inches long, Otherwise you start getting into NFA items that take ATF authorization to build & payment of NFA taxes.
  
  The trunion holds the barrel in place within the reciever.
  
  Also be aware that you can not build a pre-ban gun unless you build it on a pre-ban reciever! If you make a kit gun on a post ban reciever you must meet all the assuault weapons ban requirements, no bayonet lugs, flash hiders etc..
  
  Recievers sale from $60 to $200, from Heese (junk), Ohio Ord., or even try the firingline.com , he has the nice one's.
  
  The firingline charges $200 to build you kit, thats about the going price to build a kit gun. If you do it yourself, the biggest problem is pressing in the barrel into the trunion & setting the rivits.

  How do i know the difference between a stamped or milled reciever? Also, IAMACLONE_2 , you say the dificult part is pressing the barrel into the trunion and setting the rivets, can i do this myself without special tools, and are there any books/manuals to help me?

  Goto the building forum.
  As far as pressing in the barrel,some kits come complete with the reciever cut in 2 places, meaning the barrel already pressed into the trunion. You can remove the trunion & barrel assy, by carefully removing the rivits & place the trunion into the new reciver (Check the headspace 1st!) then rivit the trunion/barrel assy into place.
  As for as pressing in the barrel, I have seen people use C-clamps, floor jacks, bottle jacks & real presses.

  Alright, ive decided i dont want the hassle of the Class 3 stuff, so im willing to deal with the 16" barrel thing. So if i go and buy the kit, send it off and have a dummy suppressor can mounted permanently, then assemble it on my SAR reciever (which is post-ban), i will be legal?? Or must i not have a pistol grip, folding stock, and bayo lug still? Thanks again, i know i must sound like one helpless moron asking all these questions [:o)]
