sighting assistance

I have a .223 that I need to sight in. I will be sighting it in at a 25 yd. range. If I want it zeroed in at 100 yards... how high should it be at 25yd. let me know if you need more info. Thanks

  Not knowing what type of weapon you have, or how high your bases and rings are (which will make a difference in the trajectory), if you sight it dead on at 25 yards it will be approx. 2 to 2 !/2 inches high at 100 yards (this holds true for almost every rifle). Therefore, you will need to be lower at 25 yards than the dead on point. At approx 1/2 inch low at 25 yards should put you pretty close to dead on at 100 yards.

  Are you planning on scoping the rifle or are you using the open sights? My previous answer was for scoping the rifle.

  The rifle is a Savage 10FP with a heavy 24" barrel. I couldn't tell you what size the rings and bases are as I am not at my home. Thanks for the input. Oh, yes it will be scoped

  My information was for using medium height rings. If you go to a low, high or extra high ring then it will be off a little. Have not seen any figures on what the change will be.

  But before you shoot anything at 100yrd. you really should check the sight in at that distance at a larger range. Inaccuracies are more noticable at greater distance thus the chance of wounding instead of a clean kill becomes greater.

  I will be using medium ht. rings. I will also be taking it to the outdoor range soon and will be checking for accuacy. Also I meant to say how low should it be at 25 yd. my mistake. Thanks for the input.
