These guns shoot BB-size plastic beads. They were first marketed by Daisy in the '70's, and were powered by a compressed spring. Daisy quickly closed them out & disavowed any responsibility for warranty claims (they were not very durable).

I don't know who markets those currently being sold. I see that some are supposed to be full auto, so maybe they use a different methods of propulsion.

I doubt that they most people would find them satisfactory for basement target practice, and they are now too expensive for toys. The Japanese, who can't own REAL guns, may find them appealing, but I don't know why else anyone would want one.

I have a couple of the Tokyo Mauri HK's, they shoot a 6mm plastic BB around 500 fps, are battery powered an use a electric solonid and are really quite cool ~ but as mentioned, expensive. They are very detailed right down to the welds looking like real welds, they are great for display and thats all I use them for ~ I picked these up from a friend of a friend of a friend for $100 each. Looking around on the web they go for $350 and up ~ each!
