cleaning an ar-15

what is the best thing to clean the grease off the interior and exterior of an ar-15 , without damaging the finish or any plastic parts? thanks

  1. Check out the forums on AR15.com. Tehy have one specifically titled "maintenance and cleaning"
  
  2. In the army we would dissaemble the weapons and put them in the shop's Safety Clean solvent wash barrel.
  
  Now, Iwould use Hoppes or any gun solvent/bore cleaner and then wipe down with CLP.
