Light weight snubbies

Hi All,
I do a lot of backpacking and am interested in light weight revolver. I am looking at S&W and Taurus. Anyone have experience with these light revolvers? I would expect the recoil for a .357 mag to be excessive but managable for a .38spl.

  I own a titanium taurus 2in .38spl hammerless, with crimson trace laser grips. 10 .oz unloaded- one word OUCH! I can hit the center mass of a NRA sillouette at 25 yards 5 out of 5, and that's all i ask of it. But man does it feel like a BOMB going off in my hand.

  My wife weighs 118 soaking wet and she shoots the taurus titanium in a 44spl using what they call cowboy loads. the gun is ported and there is'nt enough O's in the word smooth to describe it

  go with the Taurus Titanium , with 357mag being the first choice ( 7 rounds ) follow by any of the other 3 , 41 mag, 44spl or 45 colt ( 5 rounds ) , with the ported barrels and the great grips that they have on them you shouldn't have any problems

  Are you carrying concealed or in a belt holster? My personal choice for the last few years on the hip has been a S&W 629 Backpacer w/ a 3" barrel. My first two loads are 44 special silvertips and the last four are 44 mag Federal 220 grain metal case profile for penetration. Mountain lions are seen where I go. For concealed I carry a small 22LR semiauto in a Bianchi inside the pant rig.

  Thanks everyone for the sound advice. I have been looking at the Taurus 617 very light and 7 shots of .357 should be plenty for my needs.
