S&W Model 29-2
I recently traded for a S&W Model 29-2, 44magnum. It is in about 98% condition and is pinned and recessed. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about how old the gun might be and approximate worth.I am interested in finding out as much as I can about the gun. The gun is a three screw model with a six inch barrel.

$500 + in value for the 3 screw 6". Too bad it's not 5" be worth nearly double. First made in 1962 and up until '83.

Lt. smitty. I have 2 model 29-2's, a 6.5" and a 4".
The 29-2 was made from 1961 to 1982 when the 29-3 started . The 6.5" barrel was dropped in 1979 in favor of the 6".
Your gun in new cond is worth $500.00, Exc $400.00, and VG $350.00.
If your serial# begins with "S" followed by five numbers, it was made between 1946-54. If it has six numbers after the "S", it was made between 1954-70. If the serial# begins with "N", it was made between 1970-83.
