38-55 ammo
I am considering purchasing a Marlin rifle chambered in 38-55. Does anyone have advice on the capability of this round for hunting deer. If so what ammo performs best in your experience. Thanks.

Welcome aboard, Lt.!
The .38-55 is a proven deer round, better than the .30-30 IMHO. Standard loading is a 255gr bullet, flat nose of course. You can find bullet molds to make heavier / lighter bullets, but this is the intended bullet and works well in either jacketed of plain lead versions.0 -
By all means it's certainly a good whitetail round. better than the 30-30, 32 spec., but not quite up there with the old .30-06. 0
