Ruger Police Service Six

I have a Police Service Six 2 3/4 in barrel bobbed hammer double action only serial number 158-929XX. Box marked catalog no GF-32 2 3/4 inch bbl. The lady at Ruger told me it was shipped in 1982 with a 2 3/4 barrel double action and that it apparently was a custom order. She had no other information as to the bobbed hammer. Does anybody have any other information on this firearm or know where I can look?

  I recently acquired a Police Service Six .357 in stainless with a 2 3/4" barrel. It is in very nice shape.
  
  I have seen them listed from time to time on various gun auction sites but never with the 2 3/4" barrel. Is this rare by any means??
  
  Ruger site indicates it was made in 1981. Any help appreciated.

  for the most part the Security Six has adjustable sights and has a square butt, and is chamber for the 357 mag, came with 2.75", 4" or 6 " barrels.
  the Speed Six was chamber in 357mag , 38 sp. and 9mm, it had 2.75" and 4" barrel and had fixed sights and a round butt withcheckeredwalnut grips, a few had factory bobbed hammers.
  the Police Service Six was chamber in 357mag, 38sp and 9mm with 2.75" and 4" barrels being the norm but there where a few 6" barrel ones made, it has fixed sights and a square butt with checkered walnut grips .. your gun should be worth between $200 and $275 depending on condition

  Although it is true, that the Security Six, was(As marketed)chambered in only .357 caliber, Ruger did export the Security Six in .38 Special(Model RDA84)in the 4" barell size, under special contracts! There were only a few overrun guns, in .38 Special that might still be in the USA? However, since I own one of the early(150 Series)Security Six(In .38 Special)although I knew it was a "Rare" gun-I had no idea, just how "Rare" it was-until I contacted the "Red Eagle News Exchange" and found out, that only one other gun, (Besides mine)was known to exist, in the USA(Wow!)and, I was "Shocked"! They even told me, that the original(White Ruger box, with red numbers/letters on it)was a "Prize" in itself(Worth $50-$60)! At first, they didn't believe me-and, asked me if I was "Sure' about what I had-and, they wanted me to send them all the information on my gun? It was after this, that they confirmed, that my Security Six, truely was only the 2nd of these guns, known to exist, in the USA! My Security Six(.38 Special)happens to be 1973 Vintage(NIB)! I'm getting old now-so, I guess I better finally, go shoot it(Or else, sell it to another Ruger collector)before it's too late?
