Converting sks to ak style clips

Any body know anything about this. Pros Cons?? Where do I get the kit

  You can get the conversion kits right here on the GunBroker auction site. They typically suck, however, and do not feed reliably.
  
  Buy stripper clips. You can reload faster with them than you can clear a jam because of a crappy conversion. And they're cheap!
  
  Or buy the Chinese Red Star 20 Round fixed mags. I've had good luck with them. I've heard of folks having trouble with them on Russian SKS's, but never on Chinese ones. I've never had trouble with them on on either.
  
  Or buy an SKS that was factory-built to take AK mags -- I think they are called Norinco Sporters, or Type D's maybe.
  
  Or buy an AK-47.

  I think the biggest con is that, unless you were to add sufficient US made parts and remove the bayonet lug (and in some cases the grenade launcher) it would be a felony. Helpful and informative links follow.

  After years of gunsmithing I have seen very few of these "conversions"
  that would work !!!! its not worth the tyrouble and time....either shoot the sks as is (a really good gun) or go buy an ak variation....

  Specifically, the reason WHY they suck: The mags don't fit well, and the latch system doesn't work. So, you have to manipulate the mag to get it in the well, and then manipulate the latch. But, the latch rarely catches, so you must turn and pull and twist and smack the mag until the latch catches. Then, you work the bolt handle, and the latch lets go and you have to start all over again. By this time, you could have loaded & fired 20 rounds using 2 ten-round stripper clips. NOW do you see why we are trying to dissuade you?

  I've tried them all, best I've found was mentioned above, the fixed 20rd chinese mag on a chinese gun. My feeling on the detachable mag SKS is "...if Siminov or Moa Se Dong(sp) wanted u to have detachable mags he would've designed the gun that way!"
