Winchester 1890 22 Short Pump Value???

Gun is in excellant shape...I'd say 75% or better. Ontegon barrel is 24 inches long. Serial on bottom of receiver is #610xxx and it has another number on the bottom of the trigger assembly which is #572xxx. It has a curved butt metal plate and a screw protroding from the left side of the receiver which I do not know what it is for. The wood of the stock is in very good shape...however the wooden pump is cracked and chipped. What's the history and what's it worth??? Tks.

  Your gun could possibly have been in a shooting gallery in one of its past lives. It was commonplace to clean all the rifles and then just put them back together without worrying about which reciever went with which. There also have been many put together with pieces. It probably wouldn't affect function, but it does affect value. The screw that you mention is possibly the take down screw. A large thumb screw with a screwdriver slot? If so loosen it and pull the two parts of the rifle in opposite directions to break it down. With the mixed serial #'s and the condition you describe you have a shooter that is probably worth in the $130.00-$200.00 range. It's still probably able to shoot a rabbit or a tin can with ease and style.

  Your Model 1890 is a Composite! Pieced together from Two Known Guns..!
  Serial Number 610xxx was Made in 1918 or 1919....Production for 1918 started at 596046 and Ended at 610280 for years production Run..
  Serial Numbers for 1919 began with 6310281 and ended with 637644..
  #572XXX Was produced in 1916..Numbers began with 558130 and ran to 577337...for that years production Run.....Your Gun is a Take Down Model...thats why the Knurled Screw on the Side...Because of the Split Fore Arm Wood...the value is going to be decreased by about 25%..and the Fact that this Gun is made up from several differant Guns and Value is gonna go down the Tubes...Complete and Original 1890's in Excellent condition and NOT made up from Parts or from several different Guns are Bringing upwards of $1000.00....Pieced Guns like Yours are going for Under $300.00....Hope this information is of some small help to you.......Best.....
