6. removable cylinder fixed with pin/loading gate cutout on RH reciever
7. hammer halfcock index`s cylinder for loading through gate
8. no trigger guard
9. nickel plate finish
10. bakalite grip panels(checkered and decorated)
11. 6 inch OAL/ 1 1/8 inch cylinder length
12. checkered wedge style hammer(case hardened)
13. TOP OF BBL: RED JACKET No. 9 (i think its a 9)
14. TOP OF FRAME: THE LEE ARMS CO. WILKES*BARRE PA
15. BOTTOM OF BBL: 80996
16. FORWARD FACE OF CYLINDER: 80996
the gun retains about 90% of its nickel finish. the BBL is perfect. the finish, rifling, and crown are mint. the grips are intact. the gun locks up tight, and functions. the cylinder index`s correctly. the cylinder pin and retaining screw have been abused, and show it. the only reference i could find was in my gun trade name guide. it states that red jacket was the trade name used by the lee arms co. in wilkes barre pa. overall NRA condition is VERY GOOD. no rust or pitting anywere.
WHEN WAS IT MADE??? HOW MANY WERE MADE??? WHO MADE IT??? IS IT OF INTREST TO COLLECTORS??? WHAT IS IT WORTH??? any history or information on this gun, and the maker/company, and there history would be helpful. i am at a loss to find any info in my reference library. anybody seen/own one???best regards, mike.

RED JACKET-- Trade name used by LEE ARMS CO. on Revolvers, c.1870's Wilkes Barre, Pa.
Wilkes-Barre Gun Company, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. made Guns under their own name and various name Brand names up to the early 1890's

I found your comments on the Lee Arms Red jacket spur trigger pistol from a general search on the Net. Do you think it safe to run Canuck .32 RF short ammo through one? I assume, because of their age, they were made for black powder loads. The Canuck ammo I have says nothing about smokless or black powder.

i personaly fired a box of NAVY ARMS .32 short rimfire through mine. at 7 1/2 yds, all the shots grouped in the head of a full body sillouette, even though i was aiming center of mass. recoil was very sharp, due to the guns small size, and light wieght. the gun attempted to "turn around" in my hand. there was a lot of smoke, sparks, and flame when firing the gun. i grouped 10 rounds in a 4 inch circle, all in the head. my gun was in excellant shape, had correct timing, and the action was tight. i had it inspected by a gunsmith beforehand.
i would recomend having it looked at by a gunsmith, and that you wear ear and eye protection. these are well made guns, better than most suicide specials. best regards, mike.

Sorry to be so late in replying, but have been out of town the past few days and have had to beg for the use of a computer.....and that was just to look at the Forum....Am Home now and will be up and ready to do my Duties in the Morning....As to shooting your pistol? I see no problem as long as you do like Mike did and use Black Powder Loads...Under NO circumstances use any other Powder.....Best....Captain Kirk
