Rem. Mod 11---Polly Choke Removal
I see that Cabela's is selling new wood stocks for the old Mod 11 My problem is the old gun has a Poly Choke (Brand Name) on it I unscrewed the outside piece but can not tell how the inside piece is held to the bbl, I looked for a set screw or some other way but saw nothing any body know how to get this thing off. Please dont say hack saw. Thanks

I bought one awhile back that had been cut off. I had to un-screw the bead(which acted as a set screw), then used pliers and a vice to un-screw the choke base. Some are sweat(soldered)on. I don't know if you apply heat if it would hurt the barrel or not.
Thanks, Grizztribefans@sssnet.com0 -
The early models, were soldered on, the later models, were threaded on. Take out the front sight, and see if there is solder, or threads under it. You can heat the Poly-choke with a propane torch, till it loosen's. Try unscrewing the choke, while heating. Before you start, warp a damp rag, around the barrel, about 3 " up from choke.
Good luck screwing lol K.J.S.0 -
If your'e going to use it much you might as well get choke tubes. With the Poly-Choke gone you'll have a straight bore.Check out Choketubes.com .They did my 11 and I really like it. 0 -

RIGID PIPE CUTTER, IT'LL EVEN PUT SOME CHOKE BACK IN 0 -
I'v thought about that I may try jug choking, with new wood and new blue I would like to keep the lines neat. So I will want everything inside the bore.Mike how will the cutter add choke? I'm thinking somthing that goes around the circumfrence while cutting.

A pipe cutter will decrease the inside diameter of your barrel, but the decrease will all be within an 1/8 inch of the end.A choked barrel is decreased gradually over a couple inches to the desired constriction for predictable results. If you use a pipe cutter you will get more deformed shot and consequently more blown patterns.Choke tubes is the way to go. 0 -
